About
I am Kaouther Douzi, a PhD Student in sociology at the University of Liège, currently finalizing my dissertation. My academic background is highly multidisciplinary, encompassing sociology, anthropology, literature, and visual arts. I am passionate about integrating these fields to examine research topics from diverse and complementary perspectives.
My dissertation explores the sociology and anthropology of bodies in protest gatherings during post-revolutionary Tunisia. It highlights overlooked social practices and modes of participation in the context of the Middle East and North Africa. Beyond my doctoral research, I have studied related topics such as the intersections of bodies, public and private spaces, and marginalization.
In addition to my academic work, I engage in creative practices. I have published three collections of poetry and have been developing a painting practice for several years. I have trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Liège and the Academy of Fine Arts of Brussels. I see these artistic endeavors as integral to my academic journey, offering tools to explore and deepen my understanding of the subjects I study.
I write in Arabic, French, and English, allowing me to connect with a variety of audiences and contribute to broader conversations on the themes I research. My work reflects a commitment to bridging disciplines and methods to offer fresh insights into the social and cultural dynamics of the region.
